User Profile Management

User Profile Management

ProfileUnity is a comprehensive user profile management solution that is optimized for organizations who run hybrid workspace platform environments that span multiple Windows OS. ProfileUnity supports automated migrations to new workspace platforms including VMware, Citrix, Amazon Workspaces and Microsoft Windows Virtual Desktop, ensuring a successfuly transition to these environments..

ProfileUnity "harvests" existing profiles from legacy physical PCs. With a special "clean up" feature, administrators can set schemas to prevent porting over of unauthorized files and applications.  The "new" user profile is universally compatible and spans multiple Windows OS (Windows XP to current and Server 2008 and Server 2012 r2) and "co-exist" among them, allowing companies to still run applications on older OS, yet still provide current versions of applications on current Windows OS.  These profiles can also span all desktop delivery modes, including VDI, RDSH, application streaming, application virtualization and application layering methods.  ProfileUnity is optimized to work with FlexApp advanced application layering, offering a sophisticated, completed integrated solution to manage users and applications according to group policies.

Superior User Profile Management:

  • Supports any Windows® operating system version desktop experience.
  • Replaces roaming profiles and folder redirection with robust, scalable user profile management and user environment management.
  • Built in technologies, including VHD and VMDK-based ProfileDisks, dramatically speed login times.
  • Provides consistent user experience across all desktop delivery modes -- one user profile for all desktop delivery modes.
  • Applies policies and delivery of local resources based on context (“context-awareness”) of user type, location and other identifiers so that users get the resources they need when, where and how they are required.
  • Provides ability to automatically configure and port application settings and custom inclusions beyond the normal profile store.
  • Seamlessly handles large file sizes, file quantities and profiles for ease in scaling.
  • No need to allocate additional infrastructure (dedicated servers) other than minimal storage per user that is usually already allocated for projects.
  • Rapid template-driven implementation in POC and Pilots -- usually less than an hour.
  • Fully configuring ProfileUnity user profile management for thousands of users takes only days versus weeks.
  • Supports lock down of endpoints by user to ensure that access is restricted.
  • Centralized management console for Persona, Applications, Configurations, and central migration settings, for all Windows desktops.
  • Supports Desktop Disaster Recovery - persona, data, apps restored in seconds to any Windows desktop.

Superior Folder Redirection:

  • Ability to granularly apply Folder Redirection with a context aware filter --  Folder Redirection works in tandem with Context-Aware Filters to enable you to apply a Folder Redirection to more than 144 unique criteria such as a location, subnet range, OS type, as well as more common values such as Group, OU, Machine Class, etc.
  • Ability to migrate large folders without failing -- Data will be moved very reliably over multiple logins if needed. Built-in network throttling capabilities prevent network issues, even if you’ve just redirected and synced folders for hundreds or thousands of users.
  • Zero User Downtime – Redirected folders are moved/migrated in the background so users are not interrupted or down.  Users are allowed to work with their existing files during the process. After the Folder Redirection is complete, even if it takes multiple throttled sessions, Folder Redirection will automatically be switched at the next login after a final sync-check.
  • Smart sync capabilities – Folder Redirection has smart sync capabilities. You can choose what to do with a folder’s contents including Redirect, Sync-Then- Redirect-To- New -Location, and Sync- Don’t –Redirect, which is perfect for ongoing desktop disaster recovery or for laptops that may go offline.
  • Sync Status Reporting – The Inventory feature-set will tell you by user and folder the status of a Folder Redirection, whether it is in progress or if it has completed its sync. This is perfect for migrating user-authored data off of legacy desktops or for putting into place best practices for storing user- authored data on DR protected servers.
  • Hide Previous Location  --  This option allows you to hide the local folder that has been redirected so users can’t easily manually save to it in the future. This is helpful because the local is helpful because the local redirected folder may not be a part of your desktop disaster recovery plan.

Superior User Environment Management

  • Elevation Rights Management — Securely elevate privileges of standard users to run named applications with Admin Rights or install applications based on Security Rights.
  • Applications Rights Management — Save on licensing costs and lower administrative management of base images. Allow/Deny applications from running on select desktops or for select users. Whitelist/Blacklist applications.
  • Microsoft Active Directory Integration  —   Retrieve information from your domain controllers about current users' accounts. Advanced aliases require an Active Directory infrastructure and ADSI support on your clients. The values retrieved are available for use throughout your configuration. Your organization's existing ADMX templates can also be imported and assigned ProfileUnity context-aware filters. This approach can greatly speed login times by leveraging ProfileUnity's efficient AD lookup.

With ProfileUnity, desktop administrators can easily manage user profiles, saving significant time, expense and effort while increasing reliability and security of centrally managed user profiles.   The solution also supports user personalization without jeopardizing systems security, enabling a better quality end-user experience.
